- News - Dodge Phoenix
As a lead in to the Golden Jubilee year that
Phoenix will be celebrating in 2008, a 1960 Dodge Phoenix car has
been purchased as a restoration
project that will be undertaken by our employees at our Whyalla
facility.
The launch of the project was held at the City
of Whyalla council chambers as part of a Whyalla Chamber of Commerce
business
networking function and the support from local business has demonstrated
how Phoenix works in the local community. March 2004
Can you help in tracking down an early
model Dodge Phoenix (circa early 1960’s)?
As a lead up to celebrating 50 years as a provider
of employment and training for people with disabilities in the
South Australian
community, Phoenix Society is seeking the assistance of the general
public in finding a suitable Dodge Phoenix that can be restored
by staff and employees.
Ideally we are looking for a Dodge Phoenix with
big wings at the back (similar to the one pictured below) that
is in reasonable
condition.
With the support of the corporate and general
community we hope our employees will gain valuable experience by
being involved
in
this type of project. The Dodge Phoenix will be used as a way of promoting awareness
of Phoenix Society and assisting with our fundraising ventures.
If you can help in our search, please contact Andrew Ormandy at
Phoenix on 8352 1133.
 March 2005 Update
Following discussions with Andrew Ormandy, Phoenix Business Development
Manager, the South Australian State Manager for Tenneco Automotive
has generously offered support for the 1960 Dodge Phoenix restoration
project that is being undertaken in Whyalla.
The local Whyalla Carline distributor,
Shearer’s Auto Mart,
have fabricated a brand new muffler and exhaust system for the
Dodge. Our thanks go to Gavin Donnellan and his business partner
Ian Melville for undertaking the work and providing the materials
at no charge.
If you need a new Carline muffler, Lukey exhaust system or
Monroe shock absorbers visit Gavin and Ian at Shearer’s Auto
Mart (207 McBryde Terrace, Whyalla Playford, phone 8645 2749) and
support a Whyalla company who is supporting Phoenix. To
