The new Quality Assurance Disability
Services System
Phoenix was the first Business Service in Australia
to achieve this certification.
This new system embodies the old Disability Services
Standards and includes additional requirements.
The development of our system has not occurred
overnight and had its beginnings in 1993, when we achieved certification
to the International Standard ISO.
Negotiation of our first Enterprise Agreement
in 1994 added to the system, as did our achievement of the highest
level of endorsement in WorkCover’s Safety Achiever Bonus
Scheme.
Central to this whole program is the involvement
of our workforce, especially our employees with disabilities. These
processes are often complex for able-bodied people let alone those
who have an intellectual disability. Ongoing training and use of
our systems provides that understanding.
The new Quality System also required certain
management systems to be in place as well as ongoing training and
competency identification for able-bodied staff. The system does
away with the old self-assessment process and organisations must
implement an internal audit system.
