- Public Relations and Fundraising
Because we cannot rely on government funding
or on making substantial profits from our commercial operations,
fundraising is vital to our existence. Activities include lotteries,
discount movie tickets, charity events, bequests and donations.
We have endorsements from the ATO as a Deductible
Gift Recipient and as an Income
Tax Exempt Charitable Entity.
Fundraising is critical!
It is a core element of our overall organisational
structure and provides us the necessary means to ensure that greater
opportunities are provided now, but more importantly, into the
future for our ever-growing numbers.
The monies raised through our fundraising programs
enable us to purchase capital equipment, buildings and the other
necessities that enable us to provide the infrastructure to support
the employment and training of people with disabilities.
Unlike public companies, which can enlist the
support of shareholders or borrow monies to support investment
ventures, we must rely on a sound cash base and acquire any additional
capital by fundraising.
The constitution of the Society prevents us
from borrowing monies. As such, we budget for fundraising income
and match our capital growth in relation to the amount of fundraising
that we are able to achieve.
Phoenix Society operates a Public Awareness
program by conducting a number of Special Events within any calendar
year. From formal functions to charity golf events and family
days, it gives businesses and individuals the chance to contribute
and have fun doing it. As an added bonus, all donations over $2
are tax deductible.
If you would like to be included on the mailing
list for any of these events, just click

Volunteers
The
commitment of people who recognise the importance of our work
is essential to our fundraising program.
Whether you wish to volunteer for one program
or want to support the work of the society on a regular basis,
we'd welcome your involvement.
Volunteering is a great way to meet people
and stay active. Plus, job seekers who are able to put volunteer
work on their resumes demonstrate how hard working and self-motivated
they are to potential employers.
Volunteers have the opportunity of being involved
with the Society at various levels, including:
- working at Special Events
- offering time in our telemarketing programs
for our Lotteries
- working within our daily operations in
specific need areas
